Demography of Indonesia's Ethnicity
Indonesia's diversity remains vital to the dynamics of politics and social change in the nation. The 2010 census provides much more accurate and comprehensive coverage of ethnic identity than earlier censuses. The authors re-examine this 2010 census material. Their improvements to its categorisation of ethnic groups show the nation's diversity with more clarity than the census itself. The result is a new analysis and application of the data. The book discusses each province's ethnic composition and the national distribution of the 15 largest ethnic groups, and gives a picture of how Indonesia's ethnic groups have changed between 2000 and 2010. The authors also consider religious practice and language use, contemporary changes and the connections with ethnic identity.
