The Urgence of the National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights and its Structure of Hierarchy in the Indonesian Law

Eventhough Indonesia already has regulations, and ratified several instruments that protects the human rights, in reality, human rights violations that involves corporations still exist. In various human rights reports, corporations remain as one of the most responsible actors for the human rights violations. One of the reasons corporations violates the human rights is because there are no standards and guidelines that is binding, that can be used as guidelines and gives directions on how should corporations operate their business without violating the human rights. One of the ways to prevent or decrease the human rights violations by corporations is to develop the National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights that could provide direction to the government in order to make corporations as one of the key actors of the life in Indonesia. The National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights is expected to provide directions on what regulations need to be formed and adapted with the corporate’s responsibility to respect and provide access to remedy of the human rights
