Cold war shadow: United States policy toward Indonesia, 1953-1963
To contextualize the shaping of US policy in Indonesia by a consideration of internal domestic pressures on American policy makers and on the various internal struggles within each administration. The resulting policies reflect those realities. The Presidents (Truman, Eisenhower and Kennedy) involved seem to have opinions about the course of events in Indonesia, but they seem to rely heavily on advisors.
