Good governance and legal reform in Indonesia
This research assesses the effectiveness of good governance and legal reform programs and policies, especially under the World Bank, which have been introduced in Indonesia since the financial crisis in 1997. The research argues that the World Bank projects on good governance have systematically, but softly, hijacked state and non-state institutions in Indonesia, in order to impose a view of good governance that is more like a market friendly governance strategy. In the cas eof labor rights, especially through outsourcing, lowering minimum wages, and problematizing long-term contract workers, and restraining the role of the state in labor dispute mechanism.
